As we wind down another year, it’s usually a time of reflection and setting goals for the New Year just around the corner. Are you busy thinking about what you want to do in 2007? Is this your year for prosperity, a new relationship, better health and fitness or a new career?
What about this being the year that you fully connect with your inner power? In doing so, every one of the above goals would be realized more easily and joyfully.
What is your inner power? I believe that at the moment of conception, Spirit enters into that divine union of the sperm and egg. It is Spirit that oversees the miracles that happen over the next nine months until you are ready to face the world. That very same Spirit stays with us until we draw our last breath and then it returns to the universal ocean of Spirit. You may call it Holy Spirit, you may call it the Breath of Life or Universal Power. Whatever you choose to call it, it’s powerful.
According to the first verse of the Bible, it is Spirit that was responsible for the creation of heaven and earth. That same Spirit is in us. It is Spirit that moves the oceans every day with the tide, keeps the sun, moon and stars in alignment and is the force that keeps every living thing alive in the Universe. Does that give you some idea of the power that is in you?
If you took a bucket of water out of the Pacific Ocean and had it examined at a science lab it would have the very same properties as the larger body of water, do you agree? So too, the Spirit that operates in every one of us has the same properties of the Spirit that created you and the entire Universe.
As I often say to my clients: Yes that means that we should theoretically be able to walk on water and raise the dead! We technically have that power within each and every one of us.
You have the power of the Universe operating within you with every breath you take. If for jus t a moment you thought about that fact, what kind of life would you lead? Would you be more prosperous than you are today? Would you attract more powerful, positive people into your life? How would you view having the career of your dreams – as a fairy tale or a certainty? Would you walk more confidently, talk more confidently, be more confident in your every decision?
Not only do you have the wisdom of many lifetimes contained in every one of the cells of your body, you have the power of a Spirit force that connects you to the entire wisdom of the Universe. That Spirit that operates in your life is connected to the Spirit of every other human being that is alive on the planet. Perhaps more importantly, that Spirit is the active force of God.
One of the examples that I grew up with to understand the power of this force is the example of an energy plant. If God is the main power plant, then the electricity that travels from that plant to every home and every electrical socket and light switch is similar to that Spirit. If we plug a 20 watt light bulb into a light socket, we get 20 watts worth of light from it. The source does not change if we plug a 150 watt light into it. We simply get more light. It’s really that simple.
So ask yourself, am I getting 20 watts of power in my life or 150 watts?
When I meditate on the power of that Spirit and realize that it moves the oceans of the world every day and I remember how heavy a big bucket of water can weigh, I am constantly reminded of the power that operates within me. Surely fulfilling my desires, wants, ambitions and goals are miniscule in comparison to what that Spirit accomplishes every single day on this planet.
So perhaps your New Years Resolution would serve you better if it was to
remember daily the power that is within you and to trust it, work with it and let it know your dreams. That is the power of prayer.
