I went to the Vancouver International Film Festival last evening and saw the film Finding Farley. A story is of a young family´s cross-Canada adventure to visit Farley Mowat, the Canadian literary agent. Rather than fly or drive across the vast stretches of wilderness, this young family (which included a 2 1/2 year old son and a dog) paddled, walked and sailed across the country.
Battling fatigue, bugs, the elements, fear and danger, they kept the goal uppermost in mind and stayed focused on meeting their hero Farley Mowat.
The movie reminded me that many people feel like they can´t do what they want to do in their life. They limit their dreams often because of family responsibilities or finances. Yet, watching this young family traverse the country with the obstacles clearly apparent, but the goal firmly planted in their hearts and minds definitely put any and all excuses to rest.
If you want to be inspired by this family, check out Finding Farley. They created their amazing life with a journey of memories that will change their lives forever and what a gift they gave to their young son Zev.
