The other day I asked a client to journal about what she really wanted in her life. I encouraged her to write about what kind of home she wanted, where she wanted to travel and what she really wanted to do in her life. When we looked at her homework, incredibly enough, she had written about all the reasons why she couldn´t have the kind of life that I had achieved! We were both a little stunned as she became aware of what she had done.

Robert Schuller said, “the only place where your dream becomes impossible is in your own thinking.” No truer words have been spoken. So much is possible, until you decide that it´s not.

I have coached many people through this process and it is interesting how negative they can be about what they want. They say something like, “I´d really like to be free to travel the world, but……. and then they proceed to tell me exactly why they can´t have what they want.

One of my dearest friends, Monique MacDonald, says constantly in her Discover Your Sacred Gifts workshop that everything after the “but” is crap. The lesson: Say what you want without the excuses. I want to travel the world. I want to be a millionaire. I want to have a beautiful home in Costa Rica on the beach, overlooking the ocean. I want to have a wonderful relationship. Period. Nothing else needed.

The “but” that usually follows sentences like these is your cop-out, your concern that you will disappoint yourself or you won´t get what you really want. Stop making excuses. Stop copping out on what you really want in life.

Get serious and committed to what you really want. Watch your “buts” in your life. Notice how often you use the word “but” to minimize or discount what you really, really want as you create your amazing life.

Remember, dreams are possible if you allow them to flourish and be nourished. Creating your amazing life is simply getting clear on what you want and then going after it like a dog after a cat. We´ll talk more about this subject, but today is a good place to start watching your buts.

For many entrepreneurs these days, running your own business can feel like walking a tightrope. How do you master doing it all? What risks do you take? How do you avoid becoming overwhelmed?

I realized in a conversation the other night that I have created a safety net for my life which very much includes my business. Here is what it looks like:

My faith in a Higher Power and my partnership with that Universal Power
The confidence I have in my god-given gifts, talents and abilities
The amazing support team that I have created around me which includes my dearest friends and life partner
The financial buffer that I have created with no debt

These four components weave together to form a very solid safety net for me. Let me explain.

As I talk about in my CD: Who Are You – Getting to Know the C.O.O. of Your Business , I believe that God is the C.E.O. in my life. I am the Chief Operating Officer. So I have a higher intelligence than me who I can go to for guidance, direction and support. That feels absolutely wonderful to not feel alone. I am in partnership with someone who is completely rooting for my success!

I also know myself well. The difference this has made in my life has revolutionized my self-esteem issues, taking my knowingness of self-worth through the roof.

All of you know the difference in how you feel about life when you feel good about yourself. Feel lousy and unworthy and you will walk around with the weight of the world on your shoulders. When you feel good about yourself, you walk with your head held high. This creates a vibration that makes you attractive and irresistible. People want to do business with you because you are confident and fun rather than depressed, worried or angry.

I also know what I do well and what I need to delegate based on my Sacred Gifts. Because I don´t live from a place of guilt about what I should or shouldn´t be doing in my business but rather what feels really good, then I feel confident that I don´t need to do things that I don´t like or are a struggle for me. Changes everything. Seriously!

Ask yourself: Do I feel confident that I can truly succeed in my business? If the answer is no, then there´s an important issue to work on.

An amazing support team is pivotal and crucial. If you are not building a support team, your business will also be stymied. You can´t grow without a team to help you along, support you and encourage you. I have a fabulous team that includes my web guru, Krista Garren, a formatter, a team that works on my Word Press projects (blogs), an amazing illustrator and a great recording/editing and duplicaton team for my CDs. Then my fulfillment house does a job that is absolutely fabulous in getting my products out to clients.

On top of a fabulous support team, my friends and partner Greg support me consistently. That means they also kick me in the butt when I need it but they never admonish me to play safe or small but rather large and magnificent.

Ask yourself: Do I have a team around me as part of my safety net or am I going it alone? If you don´t have strong, spiritually healthy people around you, you will struggle. Guaranteed.

Money is the last part of my safety net. I have been broke so I know the panic and fear intimately that comes with wondering how you are going to pay the bills or make ends meet. There is a sickening dread each month and you don´t even want to think about retirement or the future. That doesn´t feel good as I am sure you are aware if you are in that situation.

So for me, having no debt and money in the bank is wonderful. Even both of my credit cards are secured credit cards so I truly have no debt even using a credit card. It simply frees up energy to focus on really wonderful things I want to manifest in my life rather than focusing on a budget with not enough money.

Ask yourself: Is the money/debt situation in my life sucking precious energy from me because of the worry and fear? If so, then put some energy into changing that situation.

Look at these four areas in your life and see if you can create a safety net in your business.

Knowing that I have this safety net constantly in place allows me to move forward with confidence just as a tight rope walker undoubtedly feels more confident with a safety net beneath them. Confidence is a good vibration which brings powerful results into your business.

What an amazing weekend! Wow! Monique and I had a sold-out Discover Your Sacred Gifts workshop in Vancouver and we all had an incredible time. Some of the comments were: “This is the last workshop I need to take. This is the ONLY workshop anyone needs to take!”

This was the first time that I did alot more teaching about the DNA and cellular healing that I do. I had the audience identifying the underlying emotions and releasing them. We had laughter and tears, sometimes combined! What a powerful time together.

One of the things that I so love about the Sacred Gifts workshops is the transformation process as people begin to discover a whole new world about themselves and also about their spiritual connections. Monique and I were committed to this weekend being one of spiritual enlightment for the participants.

Sacred Gifts are given to you at birth by the Universe. They are to be used for the benefit of others and for the greater good of the planet. When you are using one of your Sacred Gifts, you are in a place where the supernatural can occur and you feel energized. Those are just a couple of the characteristics of Sacred Gifts.

Interestingly, we were both fighting that nasty cold virus and yet while on stage, we never felt a twinge of body ache or a sore throat. I had also hurt my back while lifting boxes of books and CDs and while teaching, I never felt a bit of pain. That is the power of being in one´s Sacred Gifts.

I always leave a Sacred Gifts workshop energized, inspired at a deep soul level and committed to furthering the expansion of this work with Monique. It really is a brilliant sacred, spiritual, yet incredibly practical teaching that originates back in ancient writings.

I´m off to Vancouver Island tomorrow to spend a couple of days with my friend Brenda. I am hoping for some sunshine and warmer weather. That may be almost asking for a miracle but I´m open to miracles. After the winter that Vancouver has had, they deserve some miracles in the weather department!

As Monique and I prepare for the Discover Your Sacred Gifts workshop starting tomorrow, we are thrilled to have a sold-out workshop! Yesterday, I closed my blog with the statement that I do what I love and delegate the rest. This is a big clue to creating the life you want. For many people, that feels like an impossibility. How can you JUST do what you want?

It´s actually easier than you think. We have been programmed that we have to “do whatever it takes”, to “suck it up princess”, that “life is hard so get used to it”. That is programming from a generation that went through a Depression and World Wars. It is not programming that needs to be accepted or adopted by people living in developed countries in 2009. Yes, if I was a peasant living in rural India, there are things that I need to accept, but anyone reading this blog is not in that category.

So let´s release that belief at a DNA and cellular level that your life needs to be hard, difficult, and challenging because that´s a lie. It is simply not true.

One of the easiest ways that I have manifested a life that is fun, easy and abundant is to do my Sacred Gifts. These are divinely appointed gifts in all of us that were given to us at birth. You may have a supernatural gift of teaching, writing, craftsmanship, writing, wisdom or healing for example. When you are doing what energizes you, produces extraordinary results and is of benefit to others, have you noticed how fabulous you feel, how easy things are and how you don´t feel tired?

Then go do something that you just hate and doesn´t time drag by, aren´t you exhausted and don´t you feel disempowered? For me that is doing something like formatting an order form or doing accounting. Ask me to write a newsletter, teach a teleclass, be on an interview and I am as excited as a kid in a candy store. You know there are similar things in your life.

So why do you do what you hate, makes you feel awful and produces mediocre results? Stop it! Seriously, find other people to do those jobs for you. I just picked up copies of my new Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round CDs and they look fabulous. Chris, my illustrator did an amazing job. Gabriel, my recording whiz, is incredible. Troy, my duplicator has an attention to detail and the gift of service that makes working with him a pleasure. Ask me to draw the illustrations, figure out the technology for editing or produce the actual CD and I would be unhappier and depressed than a bear in a cage! They would never get done!

However, ask me to do the recording, plan the recording and faciliate the group healing session and I am beyond energized. I am over the top happy, fulfilled, joyful and empowered.

What about you? Start to notice where you are energized or not. See what you do that people comment on favorably. Watch when the time flies by. Then start to do more of those things and watch your life transform. I am on a coach between Seattle and Vancouver and amazingly enough, I have internet access while speeding down the highway. Technology never ceases to amaze me.

I left Puerto Vallarta yesterday in temperatures that were close to 90 degrees F. That´s about 26 degrees celcius. I arrived in Seattle last night and it was 42 degrees F. That´s stinking cold celcius! At least it isn´t raining. Although it has been almost five months since I have seen rain, I don´t miss it.

Right now I am feeling a tremendous amount of gratitude in my heart for the ability to travel like I do, to have the amazing support of friends who are so kind and generous and to be able to do the work I so love.

My dear friends Arturo, Marisol and Precious took me to the airport yesterday along with Greg and saw me off with lots of hugs and kisses. Today, my dear friend Monique will pick me up in a few minutes and take me to storage so I can get some warm clothes and my products for our Sacred Gifts workshop this weekend. I could never live the life I do without the incredible support I have.

My webmaster guru Krista is busy working on my new website while my wordpress -experts are working on improving the blog. Today as I released my two new CDs, Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round: Money and Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round: Why Weight, my friends Adrian and Brenda are making sure they are shipped out promptly. The CDs themselves are a compilation of so many people´s efforts.

Pulling together a team to work with you is a critical part of your success in life and in business. I could never do it alone. Neither can you. Look at the team that surrounds you and see where there are some holes that need to be fixed.

My question always is: Does what I am doing energize and bring me joy? If the answer to that question is no, then I find somebody to do that job and I focus on doing what makes me happy. This a big clue in creating the life you want.

Yesterday, Jeanette and Greg got trapped in the elevator at the condo here in Mexico. It´s finicky and personally, I´ve stayed away from it while I have lived here. I´ve got my exercise climbing the stairs. However, at 97 years of age, Jeanette needs to use the elevator. Thankfully, I heard the alarm and we got them out in less than 15 minutes.

I´ve noticed my aversion to being trapped physically on more than one occasion but I can also feel trapped emotionally and mentally, spiritually and financially.

To avoid that feeling as best as possible, I have five questions I answer before making a decision. Asking myself these questions allows me to ensure that I don´t get into situations where I feel trapped. Would you like to know these questions? They may help you form your own questions for your life.

1. Does this fit with my motto that “I own my life and can spend it on growing?”
2. Will I feel burdened, tied down or bridled in any way?
3. Does this allow me to be independent and authentic while feeling supported and part of a team that is more than the sum of its parts?
4. Does this honor my Sacred Gifts of writing, healing, and my being a gypsy?
5. Does it allow me to spend time on research and on my education?

What questions would you ask yourself to ensure that you create the life you want with the financial freedom, time freedom and other values that are important to you? This is a valuable exercise that has saved me lots of heartache. I highly recommend you find your four or five questions that will work for you to create your amazing life.
