One of the most frequent questions I get from people who either do a healing session with me or have read my book, Getting Off the Merry-Go-Round is: How do I handle the feeling that I want everyone to like me?

Perhaps you have had that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when someone unsubscribes from your email, cancels your service or stops buying your product.

It´s a normal feeling to want to be liked. It´s actually encoded in our very DNA as part of the safety mechanism that people need to like us. Once upon a time, when people lived in small villages, tribes or communities, we needed to have the support of others to bring in a harvest, help birth babies and assist us when we were sick.

Although we still need support, most people today live in larger communities where everyone does NOT know each other and where our network of support is much smaller. That reality has also eliminated the need that everyone needs to like you or support you. As a matter of fact, it is an impossibility that everyone will.

Are there people that you don´t particularly like? Do you have some negative impressions about certain people? If you don´t, I´d be very surprised. We all have opinions, some good and some not so favorable about everyone. So why would you think that everyone should like you? They´re not!

I heard a quote today from Dr. Seus, the well-loved creator of the Cat in the Hat book. He said, “Be who you are and say what you feel. Those who mind don´t matter. Those who matter don´t mind.”

The key to true peace and happiness, success and joy is to be who you are. Express the true you. Some people will like it. Others won´t. So what. You´ll never please everybody all the time. That´s a merry-go-round that never ends. So be true to yourself and you will attract those who like what you stand for. Life will be easier, more peaceful and fun. Let go of the worry about those who don´t agree with you or who mind who you are.

Seriously, I feel sorry for those who have the time and the energy to spend their days criticizing, pulling apart and hating others. All that precious energy wasted in something that doesn´t make them feel good. How pained they must be inside to feel the need to judge others so harshly.

So let go of the belief that everyone needs to like you. And know in every cell of your body that you are fabulous just the way you are. Know that you are loved and supported by an entire Universe that appreciate your gifts, your desire to grow and to be everything you are here to be. Stay in that place and everything else becomes much easier.

“Dirty money”. “Rich bitch”. “Filthy lucre”. These are all negative expressions that we associate with money. I just received an email from someone who remembered her mother telling her to wash her hands after touching money because it was full of germs. She later hated working in a grocery store because she had to touch all that dirty money.

Did you hear negative sayings about money as you were growing up? Do you find yourself still saying some of them today? Perhaps you feel some very negative emotions around money such as fear, panic, terror, anger, resentment, judgment, criticism, hatred, or bitterness.

What if money was considered “a gift from God”, something sacred or spiritual? How would you feel about money then?

Money is an energy just like every other material thing on this planet. Scientists will tell you that everything, including the chair you are sitting on, the desk you work at, the food you eat and the money you touch, is simply energy in form. However, mankind has attached various programs or beliefs to money which affects our view of it.

It´s like me thinking about a zucchini and tomato dish I have prepared for years. When I was 18 years old in the south of France, I got food poisoning on this dish I had prepared for friends. Deathly ill in a foreign country, the memories are still very poignant, although it was three decades ago. So what is my program around zucchini and tomatoes? I know it can´t be left out in the heat for any length of time or I could become deathly ill. That reminder comes up every single time I make that dish.

What does cooking have to do with money? Lots. Exactly the same way that I have the files around that particular vegetable dish, we all have files around money. You actually have files around every single thought, smell, person, idea, etc. but the file on money is particularly large and especially emotional.

How can you know what is in your file on money? Begin to notice things in your life relative to money. Are you scrimping constantly? Do you hate opening the bills when they arrive? Is there an emotion of fear or panic every time you open your bank account? Is your money thrown into a drawer, bottom of your purse or scrunched up in your pocket? Do you say things like, “there´s never enough money”? How many times a day do you say, “we can´t afford that”?

Money is not dirty or something to be despised. It´s not unspiritual or greedy to have lots of money. And it certainly isn´t a tool of the Devil as many people have been led to believe by some religious leaders. Yes, the Bible has lots to say about money and the wise use of it. Having been raised on the scripture that “having sustenance and covering, you should be content with these things”, I can now see that this means that I should be full of gratitude for everything in my life, including the basics of food, clothing and shelter. That does not mean that´s all I should settle for or be happy with, as I was once taught.

Not at all! Everything in the Universe is overflowing and in abundance. God does not scrimp or hold back. That is a man-made program of fear, scarcity and poverty.

Are you open to seeing money as something useful, important, sacred, spiritual and actually mandatory in your lifetime? Yes, mandatory. If you are going to do the work you are here to do to make a difference in the world and contribute to a better home for everyone, then having money will allow you to do so much more.

Would you agree that as a human being living in a situation where you have the capacity and capability to read this newsletter; that privilege comes with the responsibility to use your God-given talents, resources, gifts and energy in service and to be contributing?

Then money is mandatory and is part of the provisions the Universe has made to help humans create a better Earth. Right now 1% of the population earns 96% of the money in the world. That´s not right. But what are the other 99% of the population doing about that? If you´re in the 99% that I´m talking about, then ask yourself that question. Are you complaining? Have you resigned yourself to the fact that you aren´t rich? Or are you ignoring it and become complacent about your situation as if it was out of your hands?

Let me assure you. There is NO Divine Power that is keeping you poor, tying your hands behind your back so you can´t change your financial situation or endorsing your financial plight. God, the Devil, the government, your employer, your clients, your business partner or marriage mate are NOT creating your financial situation. You are.

Bob Proctor, who supports a strong spiritual viewpoint on life in a most practical way, talks about creating a new economy. That´s a personal economy. This is between you and the Universe. No matter how bad things become over the next few years, and they very well will get worse before they get better, you have the opportunity to create financial success in your life.

Money is sacred. It is a valuable tool from the Universe that today, more than ever, is being given to every single human being on the planet. Never before in the history of the world has anyone, in any part of the globe, had the chance to make money and lots of it like we have today. This is not about social status, what part of the world you live in or what race, gender or age you are. Today, anyone and everyone can create financial freedom for themselves and you have a responsibility to do just that.

There is work to be done. Today, millions of children are dying a slow painful death of malnutrition because of a misappropriation of food and funds. Millions of children are going to bed cold, alone and frightened. Preventable diseases are not being cured because of the greed of the pharmaceutical companies. Women are being violently raped in unnecessary wars. This is the reality of today´s world.

It´s easy to feel overwhelmed by it all. It´s a typical response to shut our eyes and turn our heads. Of course no one wants to see or know about these horrors. But we can do something. Right now, today, we can determine that we will change our own financial situation, become financially free so that we can make a bigger difference. Time is of the essence. There aren´t years or decades to do the work we have come to do.

Make your commitment to wealth and abundance. Take a vow of prosperity, rather than poverty. Decide today that you will be part of the solution, not a victim of the economy. Let go of the beliefs that are holding you back.

Money is sacred, a vital tool the Universe has provided us. Let´s go use it to change the world. Now that excites me! What about you?

Well, four months and 8 days late, my partner Greg and his 97-year-old mother just called from the airport in Seattle. They are taking a direct flight to Puerto Vallarta and will arrive here this afternoon! Am I excited!?!?

You bet! Greg and Jeanette were originally planning on being here with me since I arrived in Bucerias on November 2nd. However, Greg had some things that didn´t wrap up in the time frame that he had hoped for. Hence the delay.

It´s been interesting being here on my own in a 2,500 square foot condo with 4 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, den, living room, dining room, kitchen and 3 terraces. It´s never felt too big but it has at times felt lonely. However, I also realized that I was so tired and burned out when I arrived, I think that having people here 24/7 would have been stressful, even if it is the man I dearly love.

So the Universe, in all it´s infinite wisdom, gave me the window of opportunity to heal and have some private time after a very busy, people-filled schedule last year. For the last few years, I have chosen to live by the motto: It may not be what I prefer, but I trust that it´s perfect.

As Greg and Jeanette arrive today, I know in every cell of my body that it has been absolutely perfect. I am excited to see my partner after all these months, to meet for the first time, the woman who birthed this magnificent man, and to share my precious life in Bucerias with them for the next few months.

I asked Greg this morning if Jeanette was excited as this is her first trip out of North America (imagine getting your first passport at 97!). Her reply was, “it´s wonderful!” I look forward to getting to know the woman who has the spunk and initiative to pick up and move to a totally different country, different culture, different language to live with a woman she has never met.

Life doesn´t always hand me what I would prefer. However, I remember that I am orchestrating events at a human level, not a divine one. To create the life I really want, I have discovered that trust that it is always perfect…without exception has been one of the greatest gifts.

Today, one of my favorite mentors, Randy Gage talked about Sacred Circles. It´s not a term I hear others use often so it immediately got my attention.

I use the term “Sacred Circle” in the healing work that I do with my clients to refer to the group of people around you physically AND energetically. Most people have allowed a lot of what I would call riff-raff into their Sacred Circle. My role is to energetically clear it out. Your job is to physically remove it.

I see your Sacred Circle as the physical space around you that is yours and yours alone. We usually feel uncomfortable when we have people stand too close to us. It´s why you´ll notice that people in an elevator all move to the four corners and stand as far apart as possible. We like “our space”.

When I energetically clear out Sacred Circles, I am often sending out, (sometimes kicking and screaming), parents, old girlfriends, boyfriends, ex-marriage partners, old friends, school teachers, work mates, bosses and siblings and just about everybody you have ever come into contact with. They have become like a parasitic energy on you which is why you will feel loaded down, heavy, or no energy. You are unable to truly create a magical life because of this weight you carry on your shoulders. Know what I am talking about?

Especially as you move ahead in your magical, mystical journey of self-development and personal growth, friends and family can become disenchanted with you leaving them behind. They´ll feel abandoned and all of those victim mentality emotions will arise. They may even try and persuade you or “guilt you” into letting them hang onto you like a flea on a dog.

This can be especially challenging with marriage mates. Sometimes, the reality of the journey is that one person moves ahead and the other doesn´t. No amount of prodding, cajoling, nagging or genuine love will move their rear into taking responsibility for creating their life. That is the ultimate test of how much you want to create the life you really want. Leaving loved ones behind is not fun but at times it is absolutely necessary.

I believe that your Sacred Circle, that sacred space around you should be clear of everyone at an energetic level. You should be all alone in that circle with just the Universe supporting you. You need to develop that connection with whatever you call God and make it strong and firm. You do that best without the influences of everyone around you. It takes time to build your spiritual resevoir of faith and you don´t need everyone clamoring for your energy, sucking your time, and foisting their negativity onto you.

It doesn´t mean that you aren´t in community with other spiritually minded people who support you, love you and respect you. It simply means you are not affected, swayed or drained by their presence in your life. People need to be a deposit in your life rather than a constant withdrawal.

Your Sacred Circle is exactly that. Sacred. Treat it as such. Look at who is in your life physically and energetically. If you are still talking about an old boyfriend or what your Mom did to you when you were six years old or the miserable boss you had 10 years ago that cheated you out of the promotion, then those people are energetically in your Sacred Circle. Let them go. Forgive them. Release them and move on. It´s the only way you can create the life you want.
